About Associated Rehab Program for Women Inc

Associated Rehabilitation Program for Women, known as Alpha Oaks, is a nonprofit residential treatment program for adult women with alcohol and drug addiction in Carmichael, California. Founded in 1977 by women in recovery from alcoholism, they run two state-licensed residential homes in the Carmichael and Fair Oaks area: Alpha Oaks, with 23 beds, and Cornerstone, with 11 beds. Their approach follows the social model of recovery, which centers on building practical daily routines and healthy relationship skills so that sober living becomes a steady, lasting habit. They serve women from many backgrounds and income levels, and with varying severity of addiction.

Because many women with addiction carry histories of emotional, physical, or sexual abuse, along with deep self-esteem struggles, the program is gender-specific so these painful issues can be worked through among other women. Residents live together and form a 24-hour support network built on cooperation rather than competition, and many leave with new, healthier kinds of friendships. Twelve Step involvement is encouraged both during the stay and after discharge. Treatment is partly funded through Sacramento County Behavioral Health Services, and they also accept private-pay clients at modest daily rates, including payment by major credit card.
