About Argus Community Inc
Argus Community is a long-standing nonprofit behavioral health organization based in the Bronx, offering substance use treatment, mental health care, recovery support, and prevention services to New Yorkers for more than 50 years. They focus on underserved adults, families, and adolescents, including people involved with the courts, and they emphasize practical stability alongside sobriety, such as housing, employment, and repaired family ties. Their care spans 24/7 residential programs, outpatient addiction treatment, and a separate outpatient mental health clinic, with services reaching all five boroughs, Long Island, and Westchester County.
On the residential side, they operate Mary S Taylor, Striver House, Harbor House, and CREATE Rehab, where clients live in supportive housing while receiving clinical counseling, mental health and substance use treatment, skill-building workshops, and help with daily living as they prepare to return to the community. Their CSEDNY outpatient programs in Brooklyn, Queens, and Hempstead are OASAS-licensed and serve adults with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions through individual, group, and family counseling, relapse prevention education, case management, and telehealth when it fits. The Brooklyn and Nassau sites also provide ancillary withdrawal services, and the outpatient teams coordinate referrals for medication-assisted treatment and psychiatric care. Their approach is strengths-based and trauma-informed, and family members and significant others affected by a loved one’s substance use can receive support as well.
