About Aquila Recovery of Virginia

Aquila Recovery of Virginia is an outpatient addiction treatment center in Herndon, serving the Reston area and greater Northern Virginia. They work largely with adults and working professionals who need help with alcohol, cocaine, opiates, prescription pills, or benzodiazepines but want to keep their careers and family lives intact. Their approach centers on individual wellness plans that clients help write and own, non-confrontational therapy, and reaching people early in their substance use. Care is offered through an Intensive Outpatient Program, a standard Outpatient Program, and a weekly Continuing Care group, and their clinical team arranges medical detox through local partners when an assessment shows it is needed.

The evening IOP meets three hours a day, three days a week, for roughly six to eight weeks before clients step down to OP, which meets twice weekly for 1.5 hours over eight to twelve weeks. Treatment combines group psychotherapy and psychoeducation led by licensed master’s-level clinicians and substance abuse counselors with individual therapy, case management, breathalyzer checks, and drug testing for accountability. Dual-diagnosis care addresses anxiety, depression, burnout, and trauma alongside substance use, using CBT and DBT to build practical coping skills, and the team can help plan a gradual benzodiazepine taper and coordinate with a client’s existing doctor or therapist. They are accredited by The Joint Commission, in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, and offer reduced out-of-network pricing for many PPO plans such as Aetna and Cigna.
