About Airmid Counseling Services

Airmid Counseling Services is an outpatient counseling agency in East Orange, New Jersey, serving people struggling with substance use, including those with co-occurring mental health conditions and people living with HIV/AIDS. Open since July 2009, they focus on helping clients build the practical life skills needed for lasting abstinence from alcohol and other drugs, with the aim of keeping care affordable and involving families along the way. Beyond addiction, they also address grief and loss, anger, domestic violence, and trauma.

Each client works with a counselor to build an individualized recovery plan around S.M.A.R.T. goals, supported by evidence-based interventions. Services include individual and group therapy, co-occurring counseling, substance education, substance abuse evaluations, and case management, along with psychiatric evaluations, medication education, and medication monitoring. Specialized groups cover discovery work, anger management, trauma, and grief, and they offer parenting classes as well as couples and family counseling. Through the affiliated Airmid Foundation, clients can also join community outings several times a year, which adds a social side to recovery outside of sessions.
