About Addiction Treatment Services

Addiction Treatment Services (ATS) is a long-standing addiction treatment provider in Traverse City, Michigan, that has served the Northern Michigan community for more than 50 years. Their care is person-centered, trauma-informed, and evidence-based, with attention to the physical, mental, emotional, and social sides of recovery from substance use and related behavioral health issues. They offer medically supervised withdrawal management at The P.I.E.R., residential treatment at Dakoske Hall, and outpatient care, including intensive outpatient, through The P.O.R.C.H. Women’s residential admissions are on hold while ATS consolidates into a new facility, but women can still receive withdrawal management, intensive outpatient, and health clinic services.

The men’s residential program typically lasts about 28 days, with length adjusted to each person’s needs, and residents live with peers of the same gender while working with staff to uncover the trauma, patterns, and present-day pressures behind their substance use. Life skills-building and experiential activities are part of the residential schedule. On the outpatient side, an onsite clinic provides medication for opioid use disorder, long-acting injectable medications, basic medical care, and psychiatric evaluation, alongside individual therapy and group counseling offered in person or by telehealth. ATS also provides clinical and driver’s license assessments open to people not enrolled in their programs, peer support and case management, take-home naloxone kits, an anonymous safe syringe program, and mobile, community-based outreach to rural areas of Northern Michigan.
