Addiction Allies is a physician-led outpatient addiction medicine and substance use treatment program in Lynchburg, Virginia, with a second location in Charlottesville. They treat adults, adolescents, and pregnant women struggling with opioids (including fentanyl and kratom), alcohol, stimulants, benzodiazepines, cannabis, and nicotine, and they address co-occurring mental health conditions alongside substance use. Their approach is person-centered and trauma-informed, and care is offered through a medical clinic, an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), and a Partial Hospitalization/Day Treatment Program (PHP). They accept most Virginia Medicaid plans, participate with most Medicare and commercial insurance plans, and offer affordable options for people without coverage.

In the clinic, patients can receive medication-assisted treatment with buprenorphine (Suboxone, Sublocade, or Brixadi) or naltrexone (Vivitrol), along with evaluation and treatment for conditions such as PTSD, depression, anxiety, insomnia, and bipolar disorder. PHP runs seven days a week, at least five hours a day, typically for four to six weeks, and draws on trauma-focused CBT, DBT, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, with regular physician visits to manage withdrawal and medication. IOP meets three evenings a week for three hours per session and can last up to 12 weeks, so participants can keep up with work or school, and EMDR, peer support, case management, and family support are also offered. The program itself is not 12-Step based, but they encourage attending AA, NA, SMART Recovery, or Refuge Recovery within a harm reduction framework, and they can arrange no-cost lodging with meals during treatment, HIV and Hepatitis C screening, and on-site Hepatitis C treatment.
