About Access Recovery Mental Hlth Services

Access Recovery Mental Health Services (ARMHS) is an outpatient substance use disorder and mental health treatment service in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, serving the multicultural community across Milwaukee County. Their person-centered, integrated approach is built for people living with co-occurring disorders, coordinating behavioral health care alongside primary care physicians, psychiatrists, and nurse practitioners. Care starts with a comprehensive psychosocial assessment that includes a mental status exam and an ASAM screening, which helps clarify whether their setting is a good fit and shapes an individual treatment plan. When someone needs detox or inpatient care, they refer out to local hospitals and medical facilities.

Treatment centers on talk therapy, with one-on-one counseling and psychotherapy alongside group, couples, and family sessions, as well as anger management and referrals for domestic violence services. They run an in-house urine analysis lab that handles drug screening for court-ordered requirements, employers, SUD treatment, and Wisconsin’s Intoxicated Driver Program. Clients enrolled in treatment can also attend sessions by phone or online through a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. With a client’s permission, they will coordinate with outside supports such as a primary care doctor or family member, and youth counseling is planned but not yet offered.
