Access Behavioral Health Services is a community behavioral health agency in Boise, Idaho, with a second office in Nampa, serving adults, adolescents, and families across the Treasure Valley and Canyon County. Their guiding idea is that each client should be treated as a person rather than a problem, and their work spans mental health care, substance use recovery, and developmental disability services. For substance use, they offer outpatient care and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for both teens and adults. Because they use a co-occurring model, mental health symptoms and substance use are addressed together with the support of an in-house psychiatric team.

Treatment begins with an evaluation and placement recommendation, followed by a personalized plan that may combine individual, family, and group therapy built on Motivational Interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and relapse-prevention skills. When clinically appropriate, they provide medication-assisted treatment with buprenorphine, Suboxone, or oral or extended-release naltrexone (Vivitrol), although availability is limited and patients who need methadone are coordinated with a certified opioid treatment program. Adults can also work with certified peer recovery coaches, who draw on their own lived experience to help with goal setting, managing triggers, and connecting to housing, employment, and recovery groups, either one-on-one or in peer-led groups. Care coordination with schools, primary care providers, and courts or probation is available on request, telehealth may be an option, and both self-referrals and provider referrals are accepted.
